Description

Sodium Silicate, also known as water glass, is an inorganic silicate supplied in both liquid and solid forms. By adjusting the SiO₂/Na₂O modulus, it can be used for different industrial applications, including detergents, foundry binders, paper and board adhesives, construction materials and chemical processing.

We supply sodium silicate with different modulus ranges and packaging options for industrial users, distributors and manufacturers. Liquid grades are available for direct use, while solid lumps are suitable for storage and long-distance transportation.

Advantage

Available for various SiO₂/Na₂O modulus

Lower modulus grades are commonly selected for detergents and general industrial use, while higher modulus grades are suitable for binders, adhesives and other applications.

Available in both liquid and solid forms

Liquid sodium silicate is convenient for direct dosing and production, while solid lumps are easier to store, handle and ship over long distances.

Controlled Iron Content

Iron content is controlled at ≤0.01% according to the listed specification, helping reduce unwanted discoloration in applications where appearance and solution clarity are important.

Stable Batch Quality

Regular control of modulus, SiO₂, Na₂O and iron content helps maintain consistent performance from batch to batch, making the product easier to use in continuous production.

FAQ

Q: What are the main forms of Sodium Silicate available?

A: We offer Sodium Silicate in two main forms: Solid (lumps or powder) and Liquid. Solid lumps are more convenient for long-distance export to save on shipping costs, while the liquid form is ready for immediate industrial use.

Q: What does the "Modulus" mean and how do I choose?

A: The modulus is the molar ratio of SiO2 to Na2O. It determines the product's properties. A higher modulus (e.g., 3.2–3.5) is often used for adhesives and coatings, while a lower modulus (e.g., 2.0–2.4) is common in detergents and textile processing.

Q: How should Liquid Sodium Silicate be stored?

A: It should be kept in sealed plastic or carbon steel tanks in a cool, shaded area. Avoid long-term exposure to air, as it will react with CO2 and form a hard "skin" or precipitate on the surface.

Q: What are the standard packaging options?

A: For Liquid Sodium Silicate, we use 300kg drums or 1,000L IBC tanks. For Solid Lumps or Powder, we use 25kg, 50kg, or 1,000kg (Jumbo) plastic woven bags with a waterproof inner PE liner.

Q: Are there any safety risks during transportation?

A: Sodium Silicate is alkaline. While it is not a highly dangerous chemical, it can be mildly corrosive to skin and eyes. Ensure all containers are tightly sealed during transport to prevent leakage, as dried spills can become very hard and difficult to remove.

How to Choose the Right Sodium Silicate

For detergents: lower modulus grades are commonly used.
For foundry binders: higher modulus grades may be preferred depending on the binder system.
For adhesives: modulus and concentration should be selected according to the required bonding performance and production process.
For liquid dosing: liquid sodium silicate is more convenient for direct feeding.
For long-distance shipment: solid sodium silicate is easier to store and transport.

If you are not sure which grade is suitable, send us your application, required modulus or current specification. We can recommend the closest grade before quotation.
